Day 23 - I headed to the Sierras ⛰ I left Pinnacles Campground early morning. I refused to pay the $40 fee using no amenities (eg, pool, shower). The camp host stalked me on his bike, but left me alone. I met the Cal Fire boys who told me to head to Hollister as they know the roads by sky. I boiled in Fresno searching for an ATM and motor oil then scampered into the Sierras. I was instantly awed by its beauty. The endless winding roads climbing higher and higher until the sheer rock faces poke out. The attendant in the pre-1900s service station at Shaver Lake told me to head to ‘Dinky Creek’. Based on the name alone I followed her advice and found an overpriced campground. I doubled back and found a ranger who told me I could ‘camp anywhere you want’. So I found a clearing with a shallow slopped rock face and thought “I can ride up this”. So I rode the bike up the face of a Sierra mountain and found the perfect spot secluded from the world with flat sand for a tent and a handy rock bench. There was no where else I’d rather be than the top of a Sierra Mountain. @ Dinkey Creek Campground
