Day 25 - I met the mighty Yosemite. Closed due to fires on my earlier pass I made the effort to head there after hearing tails of it from others. It was $30 to enter the park. Disappointed by the fire ravaged road and closure of Glacier Point I headed to the valley. The burnt ash still hanging in the air, I went through a mile long tunnel cut into the stone. I was taken by surprise by the absolute awe and reward of the valley. From scaling Bridalveil Falls and feeling the cool mist over my face, to the shear face of El Capitan and the humble Half Dome, there was nothing Yosemite didn’t delight. I could’ve stayed forever exploring and basking in the safety of the valley’s massive walls. Campsites are booked 6 months in advance so I headed out after checking out the great Heritage Center. This took me to even more stunning scenery and finally the incredible Tioga Pass. I’d never seen a rock face so huge with the road carved in the side. If I thought it couldn’t get any better, I rose above Mono Lake where the sky painted a blue and pink hue over the brown mountain lake backdrop. Wow. Nothing could extinguish this beautiful land.
