Day 33 - I left Utah headed to Colorado. I said goodbye to Alec and would miss his Texan drawl. I decided to enter Arches NP via a backroad. If I haven’t learnt my lesson yesterday, I struggled again in the hot sandy desert. With little water and not a car to be seen for miles, I had no choice but to push on. Eventually meeting a car who told me the road ahead was clear. I made it to Arches and discovered some impressive rock formations. As I exited the swealtering Park I witnessed the fault line where the two plateaus fail to meet. I headed to Moab, where Alec and many others had headed, a mountain bikers dream. With little for me to do, I continued for Grand Junction for my critical bike repair scheduled Friday morning. I used the 141 and did not regret it as I rode for miles through the huge red canyon walls until it turned green and cold. I eventually found a campsite off the road, 10 miles shy of Grand Junction. Just as the loose chain began to slip on its cogs 😌
