Day 72 - French Quarter, New Orleans, Louisiana. Wow. I took a step into another world where tight streets, wrought iron and street lamps ruled. I bee lined straight to the swamp city below sea level. The huge water pumps visible from the highway. Given the previous rain, it’s no surprise it flooded in 2005. You wouldn’t notice as it was teeming with tourists. Look closely at the city and you’ll find skyscrapers in decay. This is a unique and wonderful part of the US. I missed Montreal and Quebec and I feel like this is a consolation. Jazz trio played slowly in the streets and I grabbed café au lait and beignets from Cafe Du Monde. I hit the markets, Bourbon St and discovered the awesome Voodoo stores. I tried daiquiri at the oldest bar in the city and saw the mighty Mississippi River not seen since outside Chicago. Boy had it swelled since then. The French Quarter was an incredible experience I recommend to everyone in the South. I tried alligator too 🦎
