Day 84 - Zion National Park/Hoover Dam. I exited the campground at dawn to catch Zion in full morning sun. I had no expectation of the park and was blown away by the immense rock faces protruding from nowhere. The Canyon drive from the East was magnificent. The long dim sweeping tunnel into the park has windows scattered throughout so you can catch a glimpse of the rock faces beside it. You’re hit by the massive canyon view as you exit. I didn’t have time to explore the park via the free shuttle bus. I headed on towards Nevada and into the desert. I missed the long stretches of sand and towering mountains. I took a photo with some Joshua Trees and went to Hoover Dam - the impressive dam built into the canyon walls against the Colorado where over 100 people died in in its construction to 1960. I headed off to a secluded and tricky campground off Lake Mead. The views were stunning as sunset and the difficult road in prevented scores of tourists and homeless flooding from Las Vegas into it. I had a wonderful sleep in the warm sands of the desert 😴
