Day 55 - A quiet day at Watkins Glen. I left my humble adobe and noticed Watkins Glen on my path towards Vermont. I cruised the rolling hills of Upstate New York and witness the extraordinary variety of trees that are home to the area. I arrived at Watkins Glen raceway where Marcus Ambrose made history as the first Australian to win a NASCAR race. Heโ€™s to it again the next year. I made it to the gate only to be stopped by a young lady who promptly told me I โ€œcould not go in thereโ€. Surprised by her tact as a lone fan on a empty car club event is nothing of concern. I attempted a sneaky entry by going around a gate, only to be scared off by the sight of campers ahead ๐Ÿ™ˆ I rode to the town for coffee and discovered the small and pretty State Park with a kickass gorge walk running through the shale rock that hugs the town. I grabbed a replacement indicator bulb and chatted to man impressed by my ride from California on a โ€˜dirt bikeโ€™. I moved on through the University town of Ithaca and out to my campsite at Cherry ridge. I went to the damp site for the picnic benches and was disappointed to find none! I put my helmet on a nearby stump and crouched my night away in the cool wet autumn air ๐Ÿ‚
